The trip will take about six to eight hours each way, so make sure you stay overnight at a hotel while you’re there.

The festival is a celebration of Romanian history and gives visitors a chance to step back in time and see what life was like for the average Romanian in the Middle Ages. The Bucharest Photofest happens every October in the capital of Romania and features some of the most important pieces of photography in the region. If you’re in Romania in October, it would certainly be worth your while to see the festival in action.

    South African citizens will need a valid South African passport and a Schengen visa. In order to qualify, your passport must not expire within six months of your planned visit, you will need to pay a fee of around 80 euro, provide proof of sufficient funds (around 100 euro per day of your stay), a confirmed air ticket, your travel itinerary, and two colour passport photos. The visa should take a maximum of three weeks to be approved.
