Hamilton has a relaxing subtropical climate which can be enjoyed during the school holiday high season between April and September. At this time of year there are many beach activities going on such as water sports, island, boating tours and events. It’s the best time to visit Hamilton for the Bermuda Kite Festival, the Queen’s Birthday Parade and the Soca vs Reggae Event. Benefit from cheaper accommodation and flights throughout the off-peak season of October to December, known as hurricane season. Despite the name, hurricanes in Bermuda are quite rare.
The beautiful Caribbean island of Bermuda and its capital city, Hamilton is a wonderful holiday destination. Lying off the coast of North America, east of North Carolina, Bermuda is a British overseas territory and one of the last remains of its former colonial empire in North America. Hamilton is the island’s largest city and home to Bermuda’s financial district. There are plenty of things for visitors to do here. All the family can enjoy visiting Victoria Park which provides picnic areas and wonderful views of the city centre and small harbour. Make sure you spend some time in Fort Hamilton. It’s an interesting place to find out about the island’s colonial history and, what’s more, there are fantastic views of Hamilton and Bermuda at the top. Taking a cruise around Bermuda is a great way to see the island from the Atlantic Ocean.
Public transport air-conditioned buses are the cheapest and easiest way to get around Hamilton. You can see the rest of the island leaving Hamilton by ferry. To save money, buy bus and ferry transportation passes which provide unlimited use for 1-7 days, or even longer.
Bermuda International Airport is located in St. George, around a 30 minute drive to Hamilton. On your arrival there are numerous transportation options on offer. If you’re interested in renting a car or moped, rental companies can be found in the airport arrivals hall. Many hotels in Hamilton provide free minibus shuttle services which is included in the price when making a reservation. You can also travel to Hamilton from the airport by taxi.
