When is the best time to fly to Latrobe?
The Laurel Highlands are beautiful all year round, but the many outdoor activities available will be at their best between April and October, before the snows come. There are some skiing slopes and trails, however, so winter sports are also an option. Catch an NFL match between September and January - or play golf almost all year round. Cheap flights to Latrobe are available throughout the year but booking in advance is recommended.
Located in the hills of western Pennsylvania, Latrobe is a welcoming small town which provides access to some stunning scenery, and has a lively cultural life of its own.
One of the town's favourite attractions is the site of the original Rolling Rock Brewery. See where one of America's favourite beers was created and take the fascinating brewery tour before sampling some of the town's many micro-brews.
Another great attraction is golf. Home of world-famous player Arnold Palmer, the town of Latrobe boasts a course that the great man designed, and is one of the finest courses in the United States.
Other than golf, Latrobe is ideal for lovers of the great outdoors. Head into the Laurel Highlands to try horse riding, whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and hunting. Families will also adore the excitement on offer at Idlewild and Soakzone - one of the region's best water parks.
