First things first, you’ll need to sort a visa. Luckily many countries qualify for a visa upon arrival. Otherwise, you’ll need to organize it beforehand.

00:20-2:00 A visit to the Museum of Islamic Art
Once you’re sorted, head down to the taxi pavilion to catch a cab and take the 15-minute ride to the Museum of Islamic Art. One of the best museums in the world, this beautiful building is a must see. Explore the heritage and history of Islam as you peruse some of the finest Islamic artwork from three continents stretching back over 1,400 years.
2:00-3:00 Take a stroll along the promenade
Head out of the museum and onto the Corniche, a waterside promenade that stretches around Doha harbour. Take a 15-minute stroll to the green oasis that is the landscaped Al Rumalila park, before coming back towards the museum. Light or dark, you’ll get an amazing view of the city skyline reflecting out onto the Persian Gulf.

3:00-5:00 See traditional Doha
Arguably the most popular destination for tourists in Doha is the Souq Waqif, and it’s not surprising given the wealth of souvenirs on offer from jewellery and gold to clothing and spices. Head through the traditional market and stop off at one of the many cafes for some lunch or coffee and a shisha.

5:00-7:00 Enjoy some retail therapy
Hop in a taxi for some more shopping 25 minutes down the road at the Villaggio Mall. Complete with its own canal, this mini Venice is home to a number of high-street and luxury brands. If you want to window shop in style, you can float by the shops in a gondola before heading back to the airport.
7:00-8:00 Back at the airport
Safely back at the airport with some time to spare, make sure you say hello to the giant teddy bear. Designed by New York-based Swiss artist Urs Fischer, Hamad International’s most well-known resident was reportedly bought for nearly 7 million dollars.
