Cheap Flights to Graz

Graz overview

When is the best time to fly to Graz?

As with most destinations in Europe, the summer months tend to be popular with visitors, which can lead to an increase in rates for both accommodation and flights to Graz. Travellers who visit during this period can expect pleasant temperatures in the teens to mid-20s Celsius, although there can be a slight increase in rainfall. Why not take a flight to Graz in August for the Long Table of Graz event? Dine with around 700 other guests in Graz’s historic centre, which is turned into a giant open air restaurant. Make sure you book well in advance as it can sell out quickly.

A holiday to Graz during December can be a magical affair. Brave the cold temperatures, which can drop to -2 degrees Celsius and visit one of the festive Christmas Markets around the city.

The best time to visit, if you’re looking for fewer crowds and moderate weather, is either from March to May or September to October. With school term time falling within these months you may find it easier to get cheap flights to Graz and discounted hotel rates.

Graz overview

The city of Graz can best be described as a glorious network of streets, bordered with beautiful Baroque buildings, avant-garde shopping districts and charming cafes. Despite being the second largest city in Austria, this lovely region is often overshadowed by its big sister Vienna, but thanks to its beautiful blend of old and new, discerning travellers are booking flights to Graz for an exciting city break.

A walk through the Old Town is a truly breathtaking one. Here you can get lost amongst the small and intimate streets that lead out to roadside cafes selling local produce where you can sit, relax and observe the surrounding architecture. This stunning region is most famously dominated by the Schlossberg clock tower looking like it belongs in a fairy tale. Visitors can climb the staircase up the hill all the very way to the top, where you'll be able to witness one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Graz.

Despite the presence of incredible sites such as the Landeszeughaus armoury, Eggenberg Palace and the Mausoleum of Emperor Ferdinand II, Graz can also surprise you. This former Capital of Culture has an incredibly vibrant nightlife and arts scene, with an approximately 50,000 strong community of university students. For example the eye-catching Kunsthaus, otherwise known as "the friendly alien", hosts regular contemporary art exhibitions and helps give visitors a small taste of modern Graz. And when the sun sets, Graz takes on a whole new form, as truly there is no better way to reflect on a fantastic trip than by dancing the night away in one of the many inner city nightclubs, or by relaxing in a local pub watching the revellers pass you by.

Getting around Graz

Most of this city is best seen on foot, but should you wish there are plenty of excellent transport links to take advantage of, including a bus and tram network and a reliable taxi service.

Getting from the Airport to the City

Like most international airports, Graz Airport (GRZ) has plenty of ground transportation links to help you get into the city. As well as several car rental facilities within the airport itself, there is also a taxi rank located just outside, but agree your fee with the driver before departing. If you prefer, several shuttle bus companies can be booked to take you direct to your accommodation.
