When is the best time to fly to Heidelberg?
The city enjoys a fairly mild climate throughout the year but, to enjoy the best of the weather, the ideal months to book flights to Heidelberg are from May through to September to holiday in temperatures around the high teens and mid-20s. December is also an excellent time to visit the city as this is when the famous Heidelberg Christmas Market is in full swing. The market stretches over five historic market squares which are filled with stalls selling unique hand crafted items and gifts. The market’s beautiful Christmas decorations make it the perfect location to have a leisurely stroll and capture views of the old castle.
The off-peak months of January through to March are the best time to visit for budget conscious travellers as more cheap flights to Heidelberg are available. Accommodation also tends to be less expensive during this period and the city is a little less crowded.
