We arrived after the specified pick up time but the car was not ready , we waited for around 90 mins before it was. The server at Avis seemed indifferent to the situation. NOT my idea of customer service

Pickup at the airport was quick and easy, especially with the car on the airport property and a short walk from the terminal. The car was better than advertised, clean, few miles, and performed perfectly. Check in and out, late in the evening for both times, was performed by knowledgeable and friendly people.

Alamo did not answer their telephone at 1:17 am when my plane landed in Fairbanks, AK. I had arrived early and wanted to pick up my rental car at 1:17 am. The contracted pickup time was set for 10:00 am. All Alamo's advertised information said they were open to 1:30 am. Later that same morning, I arrived at 10:58 am for my 10:00 am pickup. Alamo had given away my rental. No phone call. Nothing to see if I was on the way. And the desk clerk was dismissive and not the least bit apologetic about it.

Some time after exiting the rental facility the check engine light for oil service needed came on which was frustrating given the amount of mileage we anticipated driving. The comfort of a Toyota 4Runner is average at best. The seats are very rigid and overall comfort significantly decreases the perceived value of renting it.

I arrived Saturday around noon and there was only one person in line in front of me. I had a very friendly person at the counter. He did tell me they do not accept the 3rd party insurance I had purchased through Allianz but they took the name of my regular car insurance to use instead. This was fine for me but could be a problem for someone who doesn’t have car insurance back home. When I went to get my car instead of being a small Chevy spark hatchback I had reserved it was a ginormous SUV. I went back to the desk and they weren’t able to give me a small economy but they gave me a brand new 2022 Toyota RAV4 hybrid. I was in Alaska for the weekend but had rented a compact since it was what I could afford. It was great to have the RAV4. Upon return check out took about 1 minute and was easy. Overall, I had a decent experience and lucked out on the economy cars being overbooked :)

The young man at the counter greeted me so promptly I wasn’t sure he was talking to me. He was very efficient and courteous, friendly, smiling, engaging, knowledgeable. What more could you want?!? The DOLLAR sign in the garage is difficult to find. I asked another agent while looking and she told me DOLLAR car were on another floor. NOT! They need better signage in the Anchorage facility.

The front windshield wipers were shot. Need to be replaced. It was almost dangerous to drive when it was raining
